British troops paid £2.45p per hour in Afghanistan

We had an idea that troop wages were poor, but this is ridiculous. When I was in Ulster in early 1974 we were paid £17.50 a week. They brought 'danger money' in for our last month of the tour, of 50p extra per day, and they even taxed us on that !

The article starts off very slow, but towards the end, reveals some astonishing facts.

A man's job on a boy's salary

Who cares about feuding politicians when a soldier in Afghanistan is paid £2.45 (honestly) an hour?
